The pocket watch is out of jacaranda, sand from the Soka Beach in Bali and blackened silver.
Through the need „luxury through super analog“ I asked if it is also possible to think autonomously again without being reachable by smartphones, GPS etc., all the time. What kind of products can convey this feeling to their owners? Therefore, I have provided a clock that the first step is already costing „time“, namely to serve them. What already requires leisure to use? A pocket watch, because it must be pulled from the pocket each time it‘s used. It also stands as a symbol of a world from which we are a long way – a world without navigation systems and apps, where the men smoked cigars in their salons together. I chose to combine the pocket watch with one of the most inaccurat time displays, the hourglass. The hourglass can thus rotate freely without needing the entire clock to move. It takes 20 seconds for the sand to run from one side to another.
This is a part of my diploma thesis 2012 in cooperation with Porsche Design. For this work I also got the IKEA scholarship for very eligible Projects.
